In 1777, there were only 13 stars on the Stars and Stripes. As the number of states joined increased, they experienced different versions. The US flag currently used is 2000 version. The version has 50 stars in the upper left corner, representing 50 states, and 13 lines depicting 13 colonies in the United States when it was first established.
